Don’t you just love this time of year?

Today’s gift comes courtesy of my personal favorite restaurant search engine in Northwest Arkansas, www.nwarestaurants.com. 1. Linens. I like color and texture to see before I get my food. It makes the food more enjoyable when there's an established bliss prior to eating.

  3. My favorite part of a fancy pants dining establishment is the presentation of the food (and taste). It's always so... uh... FANCY!

    1. It can be inspiring, too. For instance, the chopped salad at Ruth Chris (my fav dish there) is presented in simple yet beautiful stack!

    2. REALLY into Malbecs at the moment. GREAT year for them, but usually a good (affordable) Cab blend makes Daddy happy!

    3. Malbecs are pretty fun because it is something different! Port is my latest happy place. A tawny port (less sweet). Other than that, the dryer the better.

      Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

  7. My favorite thing is atmosphere and food presentation. I always feel like I am eating something that Gordan Ramsey would have made or approves of! (too many episodes of master chef and hell's kitchen) lol

    1. Atmosphere and food presentation DOES makes such a difference (tell that to Golden Corral!).

I will never ever ever judge you for watching too many food tv shows! :)

Thanks for the comment! Did you share on twitter or facebook yet?

  8. In my opinion, service is the most important aspect of fine dining.

    1. Service makes you want to come back, doesn't it? Of course, it has to taste delishy, too. Like when I went to Hong Kong (ha ha ha).

  9. Prime Steak that is > 16 oz and preferably served on a oven heated hot plate to enjoy to the last bite.

  10. Shared sides on separate serving plates. The pecan crusted sweet potatoes at Ruth's Chris are often in my dreams.

    1. Oh my! How have I not tasted this pecan crusted dream-inducing sweet potato yet? May your dreams come true.

  11. I love having the option of multiple sides. I really like a variety of foods and being able to share them with the table is always a plus.

  12. Super cheesey but I love the crumb brusher that the super fancy restaurants do between courses to clean off your table before they bring out the next course. It is super silly and hardly anywhere does it anymore!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yeah, but it so fun to awkwardly watch them while they clean up the crumbs! First time I went to a restaurant where the used a crumb brusher, I went out and bought one! Ask me how many times I have used it... want it? :)

  13. Bottom line. The food must be perfection. The service must be right on. Our experiences at the Rogers Ruth's Chris location have always been good, and I would recommend them highly. You can have white tablecloths (nice), silver service, fine china, etc. but those don't necessarily mean good food. Getting both is very nice and appreciated, I've had some really good steaks at some places that were questionable, but I would go back in a heartbeat because of the food and service. On the other hand, I've dined in some seriously fine establishments where the service was so-so or worse and the food the same. Obviously, I won't be going back to those. While I do like to dine in "fineness" on occasion, the food and service will always equate a return visit over white tablecloths and silver. Thanks for the opportunity to voice my opinion:) NWA is getting some mighty fine restaurants. I would love to see a very good sushi place. I keep trying to convince my LR source to open a place there:) Enough said. Thanks for all you do:)

  14. I like the butter. Life is better with butter!

    1. Then Ruth Chris is YOUR place! Those sizzlin' plates don't come out sizzlin' just because the plates are hot. Nope, it's butter!!

  15. Those little "crumb sweeper" things that look like combs. Preferably wielded by a cute young waiter in a nice uniform.

  18. I love most when a special chef's choice menu is offered & served with wine which compliments the dish. (also, love dim lights, the flicker of candles & my husbands smile across from me)

  19. I like candles- makes it all romantic and sweet. And real linen napkins and table clothes are nice too- the stiff starched ones!

  20. For me, at a nice restaurant it's not about what is there, it's about what isn't. Children. I don't like to go out for date night with kiddos all around.

  22. Happy Anniversary! The best part about eating at a great steak house, is the pampering and a perfectly cooked melt in your mouth steak delivered to your table. Plus you don't have any cleanup afterwards!

  25. I think it is the quiet... elegant restaurants are calm, serene and have a air of sophistication that can be a bit lost in our own home kitchens. It is a pleasure to experience that once in a while!

  27. One of my favorite parts of dining "fancy pants" style is coming back to the table to find my napkin folded on the back of my chair or into another fancy form. Second to this would be the crumb duster....it's just so funny to watch them :)

  29. For me it's general atmosphere/ambience. I like low-lighting, but not so low that you can't see your plate! The low-lighting seems to quiet down a room and makes the experience feel more intimate.

    1. If more restaurants would just figure out the low-lighting magic... Kudos to Ruth Chris!
